Abstract
Short length ( approximately 2 mm) fibre Fabry-Perot interferometers embedded in test models have been used as calorimeter heat transfer gauges in transient wind tunnel experiments. Four sensors were multiplexed to a single laser diode source by a fibre optic coupler network. Results are presented from wind tunnel evaluations with comparison against conventional thin film resistance thermometers in the measurement of heat fluxes of approximately 50 kW m-2 and 20 ms duration.
