Abstract

Some of the issues for lasers using hybrid waveguide unstable resonators are discussed. For hollow waveguide devices, data are presented on transverse mode conversion in transfer between free-space and planar waveguide propagation, and mode dependent gain and phase delays produced by the active CO2 gain medium. For the Nd:YAG planar waveguide laser, transverse mode selectively and its interaction with the unstable resonator design are also provided.
