Abstract
Design and analysis of a novel geometry for a four-pole synchronous reluctance motor is presented. Practical results verifying the analysis are given. On-line triplen series voltage injection is proposed for use with processor based drive systems and is incorporated in a DSP vector controller for a synchronous reluctance motor. The method is directly applicable to all vector controlled three phase machines operating in either voltage or current controlled modes. The control system has been used to obtain performance characteristics for the rotor geometry and to confirm simulation techniques.
