Using simple economic and transport models to provide quick estimates of equipment and storage requirements for national vaccination logistics strategy plans

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

When distributing vaccines to a national population, logistics efficiency is of paramount importance to public health outcomes. To ensure robustness and sustainability of rollout plans, it is useful to rapidly generate logistics and inventory solutions within given resources and constraints. In this research, based on Bangladesh, we combine population description with transport and cost models to show how a minimal cost supply chain can be identified to satisfy a mission target. This includes details of facility location, expected inventory, vehicle fleet and service level. We present results showing the model choosing different optimal arrangements when given different demand scenarios.
