Abstract
Natural convection in differentially heated cylindrical annulus is investigated, using Wollaston shearing interferometry. The evolving flow structures are recorded as interferograms, which slow the phase distribution of the basic flow regime. The resulting interferograms are posted-processed, using a Faster Fourier Transform (FFT) demodulation algorithm to extract a two-dimensional phase field and derived the temperature profile of the convective patter formation. In addition, the temperature field is simulated and used to calculate a set of artificial interferograms., These artificial images are used to compare them to the experimental results for validation.
