Abstract
The ground state recovery dynamics of malachite green on silica are studied as a function of coverage, intensity and wavelength. A fast ground state recovery indicates rapid torsional motion and excess energy dissipation in adsorbates. An intensity dependent very long lived bleaching was also observed at high coverage. This is ascribed to multiphoton induced ultrafast dissociation or desorption of dye aggregates.
