Abstract

A method to manufacture two-dimensional bundles of singlemode optical fibres is described. Submicron translational alignment accuracy is demonstrated by combining electrostatic movement and optical monitoring of the actual fibre position in a closed loop feedback alignment system. © IEE 2005.
