Abstract
Experiments on RF discharge characteristics and lasing performance were carried out using a table top configuration, cryogenically cooled laser using an uprated 27-MHz generator supplying over 5-kW RF input power. The RF electrode shape and position relative to the discharge tube has been found to influence laser performance. A maximum output power of 1.08 kW has been attained from a plane-concave resonator at 105 Torr, 7.6 g/s mass flow, gas inlet temperature of 145 K, and RF input power of 34 W/cm3, corresponding to a 28% conversion efficiency.
