Abstract

Power transformer (PT) is one of the important devices in power transmission system. The end-of-life indication can be observed as failure of solid insulation and insulating paper of the PT. The degree of polymerization (DP) is widely used measurement to examine the health state of the PT insulating paper. Currently, DP value of the insulating paper in the PT can be estimated by multiple mathematical models using one of measured Furan compounds, 2-furaldehyde (2-FAL). A formula was used to estimate the health state of the insulating papers in 274 units of PTs with 2-FAL data that operate in Selangor, Malaysia. As a result, the end-of-life for the 274 units transformer are analysed and showed in Graphical User Interface (GUI).
