Abstract
New publications on brittle fracture mechanics for materials with initial stresses are considered. It is noted that new publications in the journal 'International Journal of Solids and Structures' in 2002 correspond to the particular case of scientific results obtained in the Institute of Mechanics (Kiev) and published 20 years ago.
