Abstract
This evaluation report examines the impact of the 2023 Homeless World Cup Sacramento. The report findings are drawn from in-depth interviews with a range of stakeholders who organised, participated in, or attended the tournament, along with analysis of existing data from the Homeless World Cup Foundation player survey.
The report tells the story of how the tournament, the first Homeless World Cup in the USA and also the first post COVID, came about and how it was experienced by those who were there. A year on, it highlights the impacts of the tournament on players, volunteers, street soccer organisations and homelessness in Sacramento and beyond. It also examines if and how the tournament contributed to the Homeless World Cup Foundation’s dual aims of transforming individual players lives and changing attitudes to homelessness.
