Abstract

The reaction of diphenylacetylene with (?5-C 5H5)Fe(CO)2Ar (3) affords the indenones (4) and/or (5); a cyclohexadienyliron derivative (10) is obtained when the acetylene is 2-ethynylpyridine, the structure of which was determined by X-ray crystallography.
