Abstract

It is a known fact that knowledge and competences are regarded as the most critical resources in organizations nowadays. Several aspects of management of knowledge such as the transfer of knowledge have been discussed extensively in knowledge management literature. However, there seems to be a lack of discussions on its significance particularly in integrated environments such as public private partnerships/private finance initiatives (PPP/PFI) projects in the construction industry. Since public private initiatives are particularly new to many organizations, their inexperience can, without a doubt, lead to inefficiencies starting from the early stage of the project, design stage, construction stage to project operations. This emphasise the need for the transfer of knowledge between the parties involved in such projects. However, hitherto, only a handful of research has been carried out on this matter. A research need, therefore, emerge to investigate this in-detail.
