Abstract
A series of simple expressions are derived which enable flanking transmission to be calculated for most common situations. The parameters that affect flanking transmission are described, and design data necessary for the calculation of flanking path noise reduction is given. Usually, each flanking path will be less important than the direct path but, since there are many such paths, flanking will often be important in the overall transmission of sound between two rooms. © 1987.
