Abstract
Reaction of Cs[6-arachno-SB9H12] with [RhCl(CO)(PPh3)2] yields the known complex [8-CO-8,8-(Ph3P)2-8,7-nido-RhSB9H 10], 1. In contrast, treatment of the same thiaborane with [RhCl(CO)(PPh3)]2 affords a number of 12-vertex dirhodathiaboranes of the type [2,3-(CO)2-µ2,3-CO-2,3-(PPh3) 2-7-X-2,3,1-closo-Rh2SB9H8] in modest yields. For X = H, 3a, and X = Cl, 4, single crystal X-ray diffraction studies are reported; crystals of 3a contain the compound with X = OH, 3b, in approximately 28% occupancy. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
