The Electrocarding of Nanofibres

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper is introduced the process of Electrocarding and has shown an example of how an orderly Nylon 6 nano sliver web can be produced and subsequently spun into a nano yarn. The process and its principles have been investigated, spinning of nanoyarn was achieved and its morphology studied. The ability to manufacture yarns with this technology is particularly important, because it enables the making of new yarn structures by weaving, knitting and braiding with nanoyarns. It is pointed out that Electrocarding can allow yarn spinning to be done using conventional spinning machinery, and it can be regarded as a step change for the design and manufacture of new nano-based products.
