Abstract
The article discusses the development of private business sectors in Southeast Europe (SEE) by conforming to European Union (EU) norms or by going their own way while maintaining good trade links with the EU. It offers the consideration of regional trading conditions with the EU. It also examines the effectiveness of light, flexible regulation of economy in business sectors as opposed to complex regulation.
