    Abstract

This paper describes tests carried out on fourteen 1.6m × 1.6m × 150 mm reinforced concrete slab elements loaded with uniform bending moments applied about either or both orthogonal axes and with or without uniform twisting moments using a purpose-built test rig. Results are given up to and beyond the maximum load for the tests. The results obtained from the tests have been compared with an incremental non-linear analysis which is also described. The results have also been compared with the Wood-Armer equations and it is shown that these can be unconservative if the twisting moment is significant.
