Abstract

We report a neutron spin-echo (NSE) study of deuterated atactic polypropylene (aPP) using the multi-detector option on the spectrometer IN11 at the Institut Laue-Langevin (France). Experiments were performed in the temperature range 300-360 K i.e. above the polymer glass transition (Tg = 253 K). Neutron spectra were collected in the Q-region (0.8 < Q < 1.2 Å-1) around the first interference peak of the static structure factor S(Q) at 1.1 Å-1 which corresponds to intermolecular correlations. As shown recently for polyisobutylene and polybutadiene, the NSE data of aPP display the same temperature dependence as obtained from viscosity measurements. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
