Teambuild: Training for collaboration - Human failures and success in a technical industry: Session 18, Paper 4

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

It is essential to consider all elements of building services in the context of the building as new build, refurbishment or repair and maintenance. The paper describes the building procurement process and the way in which building services fit in. The Teambuild competition and the team build process of training young professionals is described, offered across the whole industry to graduates and to university students. The vital need for each part to appreciate and to fit into all other parts of the building procurement industry is defined. Teaching methods based on technology and context are proposed. In particular the way in which young engineers are prepared for qualification in their own and sister disciplines is reviewed.
