Abstract

This paper investigates FIR and IIR modelling techniques for use in the identification of an electrodynamic shaker. Since the dynamics of the shaker with a payload is not assumed a priori knowledge, the IIR modelling method may converge to an unstable model. The FIR modelling method guarantees the stability of the converged model. Experiments on different possible approaches for the FIR modelling method show that the Frequency Domain Adaptive Filter is the most reliable method.
