Abstract

[WBr₂ (CO)₄] reacts with cycloocta-1,5-diene, cyclooctatetraene and norbornadiene (LL) to give complexes [WBr₂(CO)LL]₂ (I) which react with Lewis bases (L) &{L CNBu^t, PMe₂Ph, (POMe)₃&} to give coordinatively unsaturated diene complexes [WBr₂CO(LL)L] (II) and coordinatively saturated derivatives [WBr₂(CO)(LL)L₂] (III) (LL NBD) and [WBr₂(CO)₂L₃] (IV). Two isomeric forms of the diene complexes II exist which have been separated in the case of [WBr₂(CO)(NBD)(PMe₂Ph)]. © 1983.
