Abstract
The reaction between [Pd(C N)(THF)2ClO4 (THF = tetrahydrofuran; C N = dimethylbenzylamineC2,N, dmba; 8-quinolylmethyl-C,N, 8-mq) and (NBu4)2[M(C6F5)4] (M = Pd, Pt) in the presence of L (L = NCMe, PPh3, PPhMe2) gave the neutral derivatives [Pd(C N)(C6F5)L], whereas reaction of [Pd(C N)(NCMe)2]ClO4 with (NBu4)2[M(C6F5)4] (M = Pd, Pt), gave the corresponding species [Pd(C N)(C6F5)(NCMe)] (C N = dmba (1), 8-mq (6)). 1 and 6 reacted with phosphines to yield [Pd(C N)(C6F5)(PR3)] (PR3 = PPh3 (2, 7); PPhMe2, C N = dmba (3), and with (NBu4)Br to yield (NBu4)[Pd(C N)(C6F5)X] (X = Br, C N = dmba (4), 8-mq (8); and 9 (X = Cl, C N = 8-mq) was obtained by treatment of 8 with AgCl. The binuclear derivatives with a single bridging halide ligand (NBu4)[{Pd(C N)(C6F5)}2(μ-X)] (X = Br, C N = dmba (5), 8-mq (10); X = Cl, C N = 8-mq (11)) were obtained by reacting 1 or 6 with 4, 8 or 9, respectively. The molecular structure of 11 was established by a single crystal X-ray study.
