Abstract

Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) was synthesized from a citrate gel containing ethylene glycol. The conditions for obtaining the pure phase depending on the citric acid/ethylene glycol ratio were studied. The sizes of the obtained particles ranged from 20 to 500 nm with the annealing temperature. Particles exhibited a rounded surface morphology, without faceted borders. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
