Abstract
Plasma treatment has many advantages in surface modification of natural fibre made textile products, including its effective alteration of surface properties of textiles and reducing the usage of environmentally hazardous chemicals. This chapter reports on the principles of plasma treatment, practical functions created using various plasma gases and treatment parameters, applicable areas and industrial implications. Applications of plasma treatment in areas of efficiency in aqueous finishing processes due to improved hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, changes in mechanical properties, antimicrobial activities as well as in the area of polymer composites have been discussed accordingly.
