Abstract

This paper describes the recent development of a high temperature superconducting (HTS) microstrip bandpass filter on r-plane sapphire substrate. The filter was design to have a quasi-elliptic function response for a passband from 1710 to 1785MHz, which covers the whole receive band of DCS1800 base station. The utilisation of cross meander open-loop resonators allows a very small and compact filter configuration to be realised. The filter was fabricated using YBa 2 Cu 3 0 7 (YBCO) thin film HTS material on a sapphire substrate that is only 0.33×39×22.5mm. Excellent performance of the filter has been obtained.
