Abstract
Two important aspects of tube-bundle boiling are examined experimentally, one relating to the form of heating, the other to the geometry. A 34-tube cell was constructed to test boiling under conditions of constant temperature and constant heat flux heating. The heat transfer under constant temperature conditions was 10% less. A 241-tube reboiler section was studied with in-line and staggered tube arrangements and the difference in heat transfer was found to be within experimental error. A simple equation reported previously is found to adequately correlate the results.
