Abstract
High-resolution time-of-flight neutron diffraction has been used to determine the structures of three cation-substituted rutile materials, viz., Zn0.15Nb0.3Ti0.55O2, Al0.2Nb0.2Ti0.6O2, and Li0.15Nb0.45Ti0.4O2. The three materials maintain the basic rutile framework with cations located in the titanium site of space group P42/mnm. Only Li0.15Nb0.45Ti0.4O2 showed any occupation of the channels that exist in these structures, with Li at 1/2,0,0 and 1/2,0,1/4 as well as in the framework site. © 1989 American Chemical Society.
