Abstract
Neutron scattering studies have been made of water and ice in a modified mesoporous silica with a hydrophobic interface and also in carbon nanohorns. It is noted that the structural features are changed compared with those of bulk water. In the case of the nanohorns the water has much stronger hydrogen-bond correlations at intermediate range and a significantly lower density. © 2009 IOP Publishing Ltd.
