    Abstract

Representative values of the buckling stress are given, and, in particular, it is shown that the asymptotic values for the critical patch loads acting on an infinitely wide strip take on a very simple form. In addition, attention is drawn to the existence of a finite range of plate geometries for which a somewhat abrupt drop in buckling load may take place.
