Abstract

Exact statement of the plane problem involving a model of piecewise homogeneous medium and the three-dimensional linearized theory of the stability of deformed bodies has been formulated for orthotropic layers compressed by 'dead' loads along the cracks. The schemes depending on the ratio of the thicknesses of layers and the lengths of cracks were analyzed with regard to macro-, structural and microcracks. Numerical data have been obtained for a microcrack spread between two linear elastic layers. Evaluation of the critical loading has been approximated for a composite having cracks between the layers.
