Abstract

This study introduced a concept in the world of economics which was first observed in the agriculturalsector of Sri Lanka. This economic disease occurs because of the lack of consideration of the long-termeffects of various economic factors. If we consider various economic factors as a chain, the entire chainwill gradually suffer by removing or weakening one ring from it. This ring is called policy ring. However, this economic disease began in the agricultural sector in a country that produces and exports agriculturalproducts (tea and rice); but a similar case study was also identified and introduced in Iran by theseresearchers, in the mining sector, and probably exists in other sectors that do not have a chain-like view ofeconomic factors and production. So, Sri Lankan disease was introduced in this paper for researchers andpolicy-makers. This concept help them to divide economic probelems into some chains to find and repairthe policy ring.
