Abstract

This paper describes the application of particle image velocimetry to wake flows. As an example the vortex shedding from a circular cylinder is considered and a 'captured' instantaneous flow field presented. The current technique of analysis is described and alternative methods for the presentation of vortex wakes demonstrated.
