Abstract

Notch characteristic is implemented in a wideband four-arm sinuous antenna with a nominal gain of 4.5 dBi over an operational bandwidth of 2-7 GHz. The notch band is introduced at 4.9 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of % 2 at 4.9 GHz, the center frequency of notched band. The sinuous antenna is backed with a metallic cavity having a low profile of 30 mm. The antenna is working with two orthogonal linear polarizations and fed with two linearly tapered microstrip Baluns. The Baluns are placed horizontally parallel to the radiating elements for size utilization.
