Separation technologies in microfluidics

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of approaches to separations utilizing microfluidics, covering both passive and active methods. Hybrid techniques incorporating both passive and active methods are also covered. The chapter reviews both chemical separations and particle separations, briefly describing the different approaches and discussing advantages/disadvantages and recent areas of application. The reader is referred to recent review articles for more in-depth information. The chapter aims to introduce the variety of possible methods, and highlight particular benefits and challenges.
