Abstract
The observation and characterization of high fidelity self phase conjugate via stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) of continuous wave laser radiation from a Nd:YAG laser in multimode silica fiber are presented. A power threshold of approximately 70 mW and a maximum power reflectivity of 70% were obtained in a fiber of length 4.23 km. It is noted that scaling to shorter fiber length will not reduce the fidelity of the phase conjugation even though the SBS threshold power increases.
