Abstract
This paper aims to explore the role of information on road users' departure time decision under several VRP (Variable Road Pricing) conditions in Jakarta. A laboratory-based experiment was conducted to capture the behaviour of road users towards the implementation of VRP scheme. Four treatments related to types of information were tested in the experiment, which were linked to information about (1) own performance, (2) group performance, (3) change in capacity and (4) change in cost. The results of General Linear Model (GLM) analysis show that treatments significantly affect participants' choices of departure time. Further analysis shows that providing official information has made road users chose peak time more than those of other treatments. It is also indicated that departure time decisions of road users are influenced by their own experiences and official information from the authority. Therefore, in the future VRP should be carefully designed by considering road users' behaviour.
