Abstract

trans- or cis-2,3-Bis(hydroxymethyl)methylenecyclopropanes react with [Fe₂(CO)₉] to yield ring-opened products containing the 3-methylene-4-vinyldihydrofuran-2(3H)-one ligand; η²- η⁴-complexes of this ligand have been characterised, the latter by X-ray crystallography.
