Abstract
Monomer, dimer, trimer... now a tetrameric icosahedral metallacarborane [{Rh(?5-Ph2C2B9H9)- (µ3-OH)}4] has been prepared as a minor by-product in the synthesis of [1,8-Ph2-2-(1.2,3-?3- :5,6-?2-C8H11) -closo-2,1,8-RhC2B9H9]. The tetramer has approximate S4 symmetry and a cubanelike {Rh(OH)}4 central core (see picture).
