Abstract

Resistance, misbehaviour and dissent have intrigued researchers since early industrial times, times when employers and governments sought ways to build industrial capacity and dominance, including increasing productivity. However, such scholarly interest remains a key feature of contemporary organisational research, especially as many such organisations operate in globalised and neo-liberal advanced economies, drawing on sophisticated management practices and cutting-edge technologies, creating impressions of acts, such as resistance, misbehaviour and dissent, as eliminated, marginal or in terminal decline.
