    Abstract

    The COVID-19 pandemic has Forced the global community to live their lives differently From before. Societies have adopted an enhanced world without boundaries through the utilisation of technologies and the implementation of the internet of things (loTl. Most industries and other entities continue to Face greater challenges while trying to grasp opportunities to keep their businesses intact and profitable. In particular, the pandemic has caused substantial job displacements and uprooted many career plans as businesses and companies shut down.
    According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (2021a) Malaysia records a historic high unemployment rate of 4.5% in 2020. The rate is reported to climb at +0.3% to 4.8% in the second quarter of this year. The Malaysian construction sector is also hit by the adverse impact of the pandemic. The annual employment of the construction sector based on labour productivity has shown an immense decline in the past Five (5) years, since 2016. The highest annual percentage change was recorded in year 2019 to 2020 at -4.4% (Department of Statistics Malaysia, 2021b).
    Uncertainties From the adverse impact of the pandemic have also affected individuals and professionals as they struggle to maintain steady employment or secure jobs. Many are left pondering on their Future careers. In this context, they are expected to be resilient in maintaining and offering their expertise and support in a more demanding and constantly changing world and economy. Thus, specifically within the Malaysian construction industry, the main question is whether there is any promising career opportunity that appreciates grit and resilient adaptivity For people to protect themselves and Future-proof their careers.
