Abstract

Infrared free induction decay and photon echo experiments were performed on hydride and deuteride localized modes of vibration in fluoride crystals using the dutch free electron laser. The population decay times of the substitutional H localized vibrational mode of singly ionized hydrogen in CaF2, SrF2 and BaF2 single crystals were determined via the three beam pump-probe technique. The decay of CaF2:H mode was temperature dependent, while that of the SrF2 and BaF2 crystals were dependent only for temperatures up to 10 K.
