Abstract
Cars have had various forms of technology for considerably longer than modern systems, like satellite navigation and adaptive cruise control, have taken to appear on current day dashboards, in fact, profound changes in automotive engineering have been occurring ever since the 1970's when electronic ignition replaced contact breaker points. Whilst technology has undoubtedly brought many benefits for vehicle performance, reliability and refinement, a new set of studies by the Ergonomics Research Group at Brunei University, reveals that there are some unexpected side effects. Not only is drivers situational awareness diminishing bid drivers appear to be unaware that this is the case.
