Abstract

Modelling of quantum dot(QD) and well(QW) optical amplifiers elucidates their advantages and restrictions for subpicosecond pulse amplification and wavelength conversion. Chirp and pulse breakup are shown from QW and narrow broadening QD amplifiers.
