Abstract
Mitochondria were isolated from cucumber cotyledons during early seedling growth, and their capacity for pyruvate metabolism investigated. The rate of pyruvate oxidation was low. Evidence is presented that suggests that this is due to low activities of the pyruvate transporter. © 1994 Oxford University Press.
