Abstract
The concern regarding the Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Electromagnetic Field (EMF) exposure to the surrounding has been a rising topic since the rapid advancement of technology over the past decade. One of the main concerns is from power line such as electrical substation, transmission line or tower that carry high amount of voltage and current from power plant to the distribution substation, since these systems and technology are among the contributing factors of emanating ELF EMF for magnetic and electric fields. By using 3D electromagnetic software, a transmission cable line and a shielding barrier were designed and simulated in the software to observe the behaviour of electric and magnetic field emission performance. The experiment is done by mitigating the distance of shielding barrier from the source and changing the thickness of the barrier. The simulated results show that the electric and magnetic field strength are decreasing with increasing distance or shielding barrier. The emissions also can be mitigated by varying the geometry of the shields and changing the shielding barrier material.
