Abstract

Two existing fields of study have been combined to investigate the lesser understood aspects of excitonic processes in photo-excited semiconductors. Polarization-selective pump-continuum-probe spectroscopy is shown to be a useful tool. Because excitons are an intermediate state in the creation of biexcitons - a distinct phenomena which have been studied by other spectroscopic tools - the stability of excitons can be assessed by monitoring the potential for the generation of biexcitons by the absorption of probe light.
