Abstract

Ultrafast laser inscription has been used to inscribe an optical waveguide in ErYb-doped glass. We demonstrate that the irradiation does not degrade the 4I13/2 lifetime of Er-ions embedded in the modified material. ©2008 Optical Society of America.
