Abstract

This paper focuses on the distribution of power when cutting float glass by CO2 laser. The paper details an experimental method based on previous work by the author, whereby the power distribution is evaluated experimentally for both continuous wave and pulse mode cutting. Variations in cut power and power losses with different cutting speeds, different material thickness and varying pulse ratios are evaluated. Values for the parameters of absorptivity index and cutting efficiency have also been obtained from the experimental results.
