Abstract

This note establishes a stability result for C₁ weak solutions to the equilibrium equations of nonlinear elasticity under the constitutive assumption of strict polyconvexity. That is, for a large class of polyconvex stored-energy functions all C₁ weak equilibria are strong local minimizers with respect to variations of sufficiently small support. © 1990 Oxford University Press.
